Microsoft Audio/Visual Interleaved
|Description||AVI stands for Audio and Video Interleave. It has an extension written as .avi, and users use this same format to store audio and video on their PC, which was developed by Microsoft in 1992 for its Video for Windows project. It allows the simultaneous playback by keeping video and audio into a single file. The simple architecture of .avi format will enable it to run on various operating systems such as Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix. It is supported by multiple web players as well.|
|Technical details||AVI format uses Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF) support, where the real data is stored into chunks, and each chunk gets recognized by a FourCC tag. Out of these individual chunks, the first one can be recognized by the hdrl tag, and it can decode the chunk containing metadata for the video. The second chunk gets identified by the movi tag, and it includes the actual audio and visual data which makes up the AVI movie. It uses less compression rather than the MOV and MPEG file formats.|

Free Lossless Audio Codec
A free codec developed for lossless compression of audio content that does not exclude information from the stream. It allows for listening to musical compositions with professional sound reproduction systems and track archiving. FLAC files are being played by portative audio players supplied by most specialized programs and are represented in a wide variety of hardware implementations. They allow users to copy CD tracks without deterioration in sound quality.
Since streaming is being coded with increased speed, FLAC files are often less than half of the original track. However, this does not affect the track quality, and therefore the format is popular for online translations and real-time coding. FLAC can support samples with a fixed point within the range of 4-32 bit per sample and a sampling frequency of 655.3 kHz. If new fields arrive, decoders are not being affected.
To change FLAC format, one may use Sound Forge or Adobe Audition. In addition to that, some smartphones can efficiently work with such files.
