Description | DST files are specifically tailored for Tajima embroidery machines. These high-tech devices come with automated controls, yet the DST files act as a blueprint for designers. They're chock-full of coordinates and instructions that guide every single detail of the needlework process, from stitching to skipping and seam placement. On top of that, DST files are packed with color palettes and other relevant data in an array of vector formats. |
Technical details | Each file is split into two parts: a header and a body. The headers of DST files typically clock in at 512 bytes. They make use of 125 bytes of data, which is par for the course. You can pretty much give DST files a miss as they generally don't have a lot to say. However, they may hold various nuggets of information, such as thread colors or the author of the file, which can be a bit of a brain-teaser. The commands in a DST file are 3 bytes long, a tad longer than most other embroidery layouts that are 2 bytes long. |
