MXF applies a sub-category of Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) data model and is currently used as the standard when it comes to editing videos professionally where the original image is not modified. Compression of MXF files can be done using any data compression devices and is easily converted to any common video format. There are incompatibilities in the application of this format by Sony, Panasonic and Canon making this container flawed. Addressing of issue was done in the released version of 2009. |
Technical details | Multiple streams that make up a video can be embedded in an MXF file. Independent streams can exist in different compressed forms. There was a significant level of inconsistencies between file presentations for digital video files prior to the development of the MXF file extension. This was a major issues since professionals were faced with the challenge of professional videos from low quality videos. MXF was created to run well regardless of the platform used. It is regarded for current and future use for digital videos. |
