Description🔵 The XLR file format is associated with Microsoft Works Spreadsheet, a spreadsheet application that was part of the Microsoft Works suite. Microsoft Works was a simplified version of Microsoft Office and offered basic word processing, spreadsheet and database tools. The XLR format was used primarily for spreadsheets created in Microsoft Works. XLR files contain cells arranged in rows and columns that can contain data and formulas for processing the data. XLR files support basic formatting and calculation functions found in spreadsheets. With the advent of later versions of Microsoft Office, support for the XLR format was discontinued, however older versions of the program, such as Microsoft Office 2003, could still open XLR files. It should be noted that Microsoft Works is not currently supported, so newer versions of Microsoft Excel may not be able to open XLR files without the use of third party converters or add-ons.
Technical details🔵 Files with the XLR extension are specific to the Microsoft Works Spreadsheet program used in Microsoft Works versions 6 through 9. Here are a few technical details about this format: - Data Type: XLR files can include not only data such as text, formulas and numbers, but also objects such as charts and images placed in individual spreadsheet cells. - Formatting: The format supports basic data formatting, which can be used to improve the visualization of information in tables. - Compatibility: XLR files were originally designed to be opened and edited in Microsoft Works. However, XLR files can also be opened in Microsoft Excel or Excel Viewer, after which they can be saved in XLS or XLSX format for better compatibility. - Information saving: XLR files can store links, scales, graphs and other technical details related to spreadsheets. It's worth noting that since Microsoft Works is no longer supported, XLR files have become less common and users often use converters to convert data to more modern formats.
